10 Things To Check Off Your 20-Something Year Old Bucket List

Your twenties are a time to be selfish with your time and how you spend it. You’re likely to have the least obligations and responsibilities during this time, and almost everyone will tell you to take advantage of it! But how do we start doing that in a non-destructive way? Start using this decade to explore more about yourself and the possibilities in life. To help out a bit, we’ve come up with a quick list to help you start checking things off that 20-something-year-old bucket list of yours!

1. Travel

Go on a trip abroad ASAP! There’s nothing better than traveling to get out of your comfort zone and get perspective on things you never would have gotten staying in the same place. Discover parts of the world while you learn more about yourself.

2. Save Money

Start saving now! Your future self will thank you! Whether you put away a few dollars or a few hundred dollars, anything helps and it gets you in the habit of saving. Don’t be afraid to start small with this one but also, don’t be afraid to aim big!

3. Go on a road trip

Going on a road trip solo or with friends is an unforgettable experience. Road trips guarantee that the unexpected will happen and the most fun you have usually ends up being the spontaneous situations that pop up along the way! Don’t forget to take lots of pics, too!

4. Learn how to cook (at least a few recipes!)

Pick a few dishes you love and learn how to make them from scratch! You don’t have to be a pro cook to be able to whip up a few dishes. Your family and friends will be so impressed at your next get together and you’ll be able to cater to guests with delicious go-to options!

5. Learn about your family history

Knowing your family history is an important part to understanding who you are. Your grandparents and parents are only going to be around for so long. Take the time to talk to them and learn about your family’s past culture, traditions, and crazy stories.

6. Take a solo trip

Everyone should take a solo trip at least once in their lives and your twenties are a great time to do it. A solo trip gives you insight on what you do/don’t enjoy and allows you to completely indulge in whatever you want without the need to please anyone else.

7. Live in a different place than where you grew up

The world truly is your oyster. Living in a new place allows you to experience a different lifestyle and culture. Even if it’s a random state you’ve always wondered about, the culture will be different and exciting. There’s so much to learn from being in an unfamiliar place. New food, friends and experiences to discover!

8. Build positive habits

The older you get the harder it is to change bad habits. Take advantage of being younger and start building healthy habits now. You could even choose one bad habit every year and decide to replace that habit with a healthy one! (sorry, weekend Netflix binges)…

9. Face Your Fears

Make a list of all the things that scare you in life. Then set some goals based on some of those fears. The more you face your fears, the more confident you become, and the more exciting life becomes to live!

10. Treat Yourself!

Don’t forget to celebrate your wins, big or small! Often in life, we get so caught up in our day to day and our endless to do lists that we forget to appreciate how far we’ve come. Appreciate yourself along the way to your goals!

Use your twenties as a time to invest in yourself. Be selfish with your wants, needs and time. Explore the dreams you had as a kid and when thirty comes (as it eventually will), you can truly embrace it. Your life is a journey and every step of the way is meant to be celebrated.
